This week, Lyons opened its "Zen Zone" space! It's located in the back corner of the PC gaming / audio recording booth room (just ask at the Help Desk and they'll point you in the right direction).
Puzzles, origami, knitting, quiet games, cards, colouring and more will be available to anyone who wishes to sit and relax in this space. It is designated as a quiet, de-stress zone. As there may be audio recordings happening in the booth, only whispered conversation is permitted in this space. Bring in your tea or coffee (but please eat your food elsewhere) and chill out in the Zen Zone. We have been made aware that our 3D Print Request form is not functioning. We've reported the problem and the web team is working on it. We hope to get it sorted as soon as possible.
Sorry for the inconvenience! Console gaming will be moving out of the gaming room, into room L418 as of today. Room L418 is still in Lyons -- but it is the glass-surrounded room immediately next to the entrance to Lyons. The game boxes can still be found on the wooden shelves that surround this room.
To book time either with console gaming or PC gaming, you still will need to login to our booking system, but you will now find them under "Lyons New Media Centre - Gaming / Rooms". Console gaming will now be found under AV & Console Gaming Room - L418 in the booking schedule. The booking process will remain much the same: book time, show up, pick your console game(s) that you want to play and check in at the Help Desk so the game and controllers can be signed out to you. But a key to the room will also be signed out to you, as this room is a locked room. Gaming PCs will be remaining in the gaming room. This room will be changing in its purpose: not only will the console gaming be located there, but so will the audio-visual equipment (such as blu-ray player, record player, VHS, etc.) from Edit Studios L415 & L416, hopefully later this month. The Edit Studios will be used solely for editing multimedia projects once this move happens. Room L418 will now be known as the AV & Console Gaming Room, L418, and will no longer be available for studying or meetings. Study rooms elsewhere in the libraries can still be booked via the Library study room booking system. Guess what?
We're hiring! Are you a McMaster student who is returning in September? Do you:
