~ by Kelly, Library Media Specialist Quick update:
Our PLA filament that we were waiting on has arrived today, so the 3D printing service is back online! We were only offline for half a day, a minimal delay. Both printers are running and we're back in business. Thanks for your patience, folks! ~ by Kelly, Library Media Specialist The 3D printing service is currently ON HOLD as of Tuesday, February 14/17.
We have run out of PLA and it is on back-order. There is no known ETA as to when we will be back in service. Please keep this in mind when submitting any requests during this downtime -- there may be significant delays to anything already submitted and not printed, as well as any new requests, as a result of this issue. ~ Kelly, Library Media Specialist If you were hoping to 3D print something for a course this term and haven't done so already, you may have left it a little too late, we're afraid. We now have enough course-related 3D print jobs to keep us busy until the last day of classes and are not accepting any further requests for courses this term (unless you're okay with having them printed after tomorrow).
The point of no return for the term has been reached, folks! Sorry! Suggestion for next term: make sure you're giving us at least 2 weeks prior to when you need your print job, as the end of term always gets busy with 3D printing and we cannot do next-day turn-arounds for these requests. All regular print jobs will resume ASAP. ~ Kelly, Library Media Specialist Several of you have reported getting error messages while trying to submit 3D printing requests. The message of "Upload file field is required" was one of the reported errors, and it's very likely that this is the message the others received as well.
As it turns out, there was an "Upload" button that was unnecessary, and when clicked, it caused the error to pop up. The Library's web-IT team discovered this after we reported the issue and have since removed the offending button. The form appears to be working now, so there was much rejoicing! (Yay!) Remember, though, if your .STL file is larger than 10MB, you will have to download and fill out either the PDF or Word versions of the form (found on the same submission page at the very bottom) and email those and the .STL files to our gmail account (also listed on that page). Thank you to those who reported the problem and thanks to our web-IT team for figure it out! Hope this helps! |
